Unknown, possible Hopfinger363 viewsDarlene Acker Burzynski's mother had this picture in her possession. No one in the family knows who it is. Darlene's mother was a Haas. There were Hopfinger, Wolf, and Lander in her line. Darlene's dad was an Acker, with Reis, Rosche, and Helms in his ancestry. It’s possible that this is a Hopfinger, but it’s just a guess. The other women in the family died younger except for Christina Barbara Goedelmann who married first Hermann Acker and then Michael Rosche of Monroe County, IL. Christina Barbara Rosche nee Goedelmann was born on 8 Sep 1819 and died in 1910 and the picture would fit into her time period I believe. Contact Darlene at dburz@insightbb.com

Swinging_Bridge_over_Shoal_Creek_on_Old_State_Road_2.JPG
Bridge # 1 - The Old Swinging Bridge north of Breese259 viewsThe Swinging Bridge served as a roadway across Shoal Creek about one mile north of Route 50. The entire bridge was built by farmers who owned property near the bridge. The bridge was damaged and almost removed in 1946, but it was repaired. That lasted for about ten years until it was destroyed beyond repair and never used again. Nothing remains of the bridge today.

Jumbo Threshing Machine253 viewsThe threshing machine coming into our farmyard on the way to out pasture behind the barn where the huge pile of straw would be easily accessible for winter bedding for the livestock and for use on the concrete floors in the chicken houses in the winter. A vague outline of the barn can be seen over the top of the Jumbo with one of the farm Implement storage buildings on the left.
