According to my gg grandfather's civil war record he entered the war in Ashley, IL and was born in Clinton Co., IL. Do you know of anyone who might be interested in doing some research for me (i.e., deed, land or whatever else might be available from that time). He was born around 1838 and after the war married someone in AR. I cannot find any trace of him or his family in the census records around Clinton, Jefferson or Washington Counties. I will be happy to pay whatever is the going rate for such a service in your area.

Thank you for your time and trouble.

Linda

I'm not very good at deeds, land records, etc. Maybe someone else will step in to help. We do have some professional researchers listed on the site at: http://clinton.ilgenweb.net/misc/proresearch.html and you may be able to get some help directly from the Clinton Co Clerk - check here for contact info: http://clinton.ilgenweb.net/misc/help.html

Linda: I agree with Frankie. Without the name of who you are searching for, we can't help either. It sounds like the family might have moved around quite a bit and therefore that might mean they were never land owners, just renters. That 1840 census might be the next stepping stone. We'll be glad to look, too, if you give us his name and/or anyone else in the family and their birthdate and place of birth (before or after 1840).

How can I obtain a copy of the death record of Paul Fauth? He died 17 March 1886. His death certificate is Volume 1, Page 143, certificate 1838.
Thank you for any help you can give me.
John Hocking
P.S. Do you know of any obituaries or other information which might be available? Paul Fauth is my GGGGrandfather.

The Duncan family is having a reunion this year & while we know where our grandparents - Joe & Veronica Duncan are buried we'd like to find out where the prior generations are. Is there a map of who's where or what is the best way to find where their graves are? I have most of the names if that is needed. Thank you, Mary

Hi, Mary, I went to our Searcher and see 181 hits for Duncans, many duplicates. You might want to browse through those and tell us who else you need, although we have everything online that we know about. The Bond County Genealogical Society read the stones in Duncan Cemetery years ago. At that time, there were stones for Abraham who died in 1859, James 1856, Mary 1876, Nancy 1851 and Robert 1868 plus 6 children and infants, plus another Mary with no hints. I can give you dates if needed. Yes, please tell us who else you need, but things don't look good right now for old, old stones. Earlier settlers were buried with wooden crosses which have since disintegrated.
Ethel is buried in Paine Cemetery.
3 babies of R & P; William, Mary & Cecil; infant of F & B; and Versie, Frank & Bessie are in McKendree Cemetery. Those cemeteries are all in Bond County.

Re: 1881 History of Marion & clinton County, Illinois.
The instructons are to contact Teresa Tully to find any further information about our ancestors if found in the book.
My ancestors are Henry Hummel and Carolina Griesbaum Hummel. Are they mentioned elsewhere in the book?

Thank you.

According to the index, Henry Hummel is mentioned on page 261 and along with Caroline on page 305.

The page 261 reference is online as part of the Looking Glass Township History: http://clinton.ilgenweb.net/patrons/lookingglass.htm

The page 305 entry is a table of "Partial List of Patrons" with the following information:
