I am looking for information and photos of Frank Henry Schroeder or his son, Joseph Schroeder from Germantown, Il.
Frank immigrated to Germantown in 1832 and died in 1882. Joseph was born in Germantown in 1854 and died in 1942.
They are both my grandparents and the family does not have any photos of them.
Thank you

I am trying to located WHERE District No 68 in Clinton County would have been in 1850(from the census)? That is the only information I have for Sarah Coleman who died circa 1850-1856 there.

District 68 was all of Clinton County, so that's not to help you a bit. If you suspect her husband owned land there, please give us his first name and we'll see if anything shows up in a few months in a new data base that isn't created yet. See http://www.clinton.ilgenweb.net/cpg1419/thumbnails.php?album=90 which is not very easy to use at this point before an index is made.

I believe that I am researching the same Sarah Coleman. Is there any way of contacting Sharon Monson to compare and share information?

PJ -- click on the little envelope to the right of the line after Sharon's name (just right of the slkc.qwest.net). It should open a form to email directly to her.

I am trying to find out anything I can about the first Bass of my family to move to this area. His name was Gilford (Guilford) Bass, Sr. He passed away in 1854. Married to Married to Mary Ann Procter. Sons- Gilford, Elijah, and Henry. I am a member of the Bond County Geneological Society so I have put in quite a bit of time on checking this out. The family was mostly in the Wheatfield Township area. I have found tombstones in Bond County in Wisetown, Greene, Campground (where son Henry is buried) and Mt. Auburn in Greenville. My grandfather was Roy Edger Bass and his father was Charles W. Bass, who was married to Susie Stubblefield. My grandfather and great grandfather had a farm right on the Clinton County/Bond County line north of Stooetown from, as for as I can tell, the 1880's until 1970. Any help you can give me on this would be much appreciated. I thank you in advance. Gilford was also in the war of 1812. Thank again, Gail M. Bass.

I want to congratulate you and say "Thanks" for all the many Clinton residents, families, extended families and friends that will be enjoying all your hard work, and also Carol Kohlbrecker.

I am a native of St. Rose, and my daughter, Lucy Moss, Aurora, IL, came across Frankie Klosterman's web site in her geneaology searches and on to your great info. Keep up the good job, and God Bless ! Sincerely Helen

Could you please send me an address or directions to Ebenezer Cemetery. I went to school with someone who is buried there. I would be coming from Hwy 50.
Thanks!

I was wondering if there were any civil war monuments in Clinton County. I am particularly interested in the 30th IL and if you are aware of any items/holdings I’d be very much interested.
Thank-you,

Matt: I don’t remember any special Civil War monuments in the county. There is a monument for the later wars in front of the court house in Carlyle. https://www.clintonco.illinois.gov/Veteran's%20Memorial/VeteransMemorial.html

On any cemetery that Gloria and I have “read”, we have tried to annotate all the military tombstones. http://clinton.ilgenweb.net/cemetery/ There are also military monuments now in Breese and in Germantown (burials, not enlistments, I think), but I’m not sure if they include Civil War guys either. A photo of the Breese one is probably online.

We have an older recap of all the veterans we knew of at that time that are buried in the county, using the 1956 Veterans list as a starting point. http://clinton.ilgenweb.net/military/1956honor/

We are members, but not connected to, the Clinton County Historical Society. You can write to them and ask them if they have any holdings. https://www.clintonco.illinois.gov/Museum.html Or, you might call one of their members as listed on http://www.playandstaycarlyle.com/organizations.htm

I had heard that the engraved sword that was presented to Gen. Elias Smith Dennis (Carlyle resident) http://clinton.ilgenweb.net/military/1861civilwar/inf008.htm by his troops is in the Springfield Historical Museum. The workers there agreed it’s listed in their inventory but could not find it for us the one day we were there a few years ago (might be in the vault?). There might even be a second item there.

You could also subscribe to our County mailing list http://clinton.ilgenweb.net/misc/clintlist.html

and ask the same questions, perhaps someone else will have an idea or two. Then after awhile, unsubscribe.

I have an antique music album with pictures of Henry Zurliene and Mary Zurliene in it, plus others not labeled. There is a picture of a memorial for Henry Zurliene w/date of death 03-03-04. Are there any decendants that would be interested in these pictures?
