Thomas B. Gebke

June 28, 1936 - November 7, 2008 [sic]

Thomas B. Gebke, 70, of Bartelso, died on Tuesday, Nov. 7th, at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. Born in Bartelso, on June 28, 1936, he was a son of Anthony H. and Regina Wellinghoff Gebke.

He married Georgiaenn "Dolly" Wilken on April 25, 1962, at St. George Church in New Baden and she survives in Bartelso.

Also surviving is a daughter, Michelle Rene Cain and husband C. Wesley of Patoka; two sons, Richard T. Gebke of Nashville and Timothy Allen Gebke of Covington; 4 grandchildren, Victoria Alexis Gebke, Kevin Cain and wife Misty and Kelly and Kendall Cain;

Four great grandchildren, Shane, Ty and Wade Cain and Kendra Parker; two sisters, Theresa Jansen and husband Bob of Breese, and Regene Heckenkemper and husband Virgil of Albers; four brothers, Edwin Gebke and wife Ruth, Whitey Gebke, and Eugene Gebke and wife Joann, all of Bartelso, and Robert Gebke of Carlyle;

His mother and father-in-law, George and Magdalene Wilken of New Baden; four sisters-in-law, Marlene Haas and husband Robert of Belleville, and Darlene Boeckmann and husband Louis, Sr., Elfrieda Poettker and husband Richard, and Brenda Ross and husband Randy, Sr., all of New Baden, and 3 brothers-in-law, Eugene Wilken and wife Sherry of Breese, Dale Wilken and wife Melba of Washington, Mo, and Gary Wilken and wife Dorothy of New Baden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony H. and Regina Gebke and a brother, Anthony Gebke, Jr.

Mr. Gebke retired from Kohnen Concrete in Germantown, where he worked as a well driller. He had previously worked at Peerless Stove Foundry in Belleville and as a laborer at Local 742 in Mascoutah.

Tom was a member of St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso and the Knights of Columbus in Bartelso. He enjoyed deer hunting, bowling, wood working and being with his dog, Holly.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, Nov. 10, at St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso with Fr. Henry J. Fisher, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Cecilia Cemetery.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 4 p.m. till 8 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
